From downtown Macedon, getting to the city of Niagara Falls takes a little under two hours by car, following route I-90 E. From here, you can either stay on the American side or cross into Canada through the Rainbow International Bridge. 2. Chimney Bluffs State Park, NY
Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, the Chimney Bluffs State Park is a popular day-trip destination for visitors coming from Macedon, Rochester, and other nearby cities in the state of New York. Established in 1963 and receiving more than 100,000 visitors each year, the park is known for its huge clay formations, which have grown throughout the past hundreds of years as a result of the glaciers that once stood in the area.
Getting to the Chimney Bluffs State Park from downtown Macedon takes around 45 minutes by car. The park is open year-round and has several designated picnic areas, public toilets, and resting facilities. Once you find a parking spot, you can head to one of the lakeside walking trails and get to the famous clay formations. This state park charges a fee of $5 per vehicle, which can be paid at the entrance of the parking lot.
3. Watkins Glen State Park, NY
Located in the Finger Lakes region, the Watkins Glen State Park is one of the most beautiful natural escapes in the state of New York, and yet it is still overlooked by many visitors passing through the area. Established in 1906, it boasts several waterfalls, hiking trails, canyons, and streams. From downtown Macedon, getting here takes a little over an hour following route NY-14 S.
