I dropped car off for recall repair. I observed a technician connected to the vehicle's data port, presumably to read the VIN or maybe the scan codes. I mentioned to the the service writer the check engine light had been on, but now was off. If they would tell me what fault code is in memory, I could make a decision on getting it repaired. I was told the cost of reading engine code was $89, but I would be "happy" to know the cost was refunded if they did the repair. I replied if the problem was in the exhaust system, I would take the car to a muffler shop, so I would not be happy to be charged for a scan. I told him the competitive price for a scan is $0, because AutoZone will scan codes as a free service, in the hope it generates business for them. Or maybe it is simply good-will for a customer service which takes 5 minutes. I will tell you what I did not say then, being charged uncompetitive prices is why people of my generation resist bringing their cars to the car dealer for service, if they can avoid it.
I ALWAYS have the best experience with the entire service department. They always exceed my expectations. This time they (Pete, Rachel and technicians) went ABOVE and beyond to have my car repaired days before i had planned with a very reasonable cost. I absolutely love the VanBortel Chevy service department. Hands down, the best around
Jim Keyes and Chuck were extremely helpful in this purchase. They were very knowledgeable, professional and patient as we were shopping for the right vehicle. I will definitely be back for my next vehicle, and have already recommended friends and family to Jim. Thanks again for the excellent service!!!
I will certainly recommend your service department to everyone, however, I would not recommend your sales department. On an occasion earlier in the month, I attempted to speak with a salesman about turning my lease in early and purchasing a truck. Unfortunately, he appeared uninterested and didn't seem to care about what I was looking to do. Since I live so close, I was hoping to make Van Bortel my one stop dealer, but I guess it's back to Victor for my sales needs.
We had a communications issue with our sales person (lack of communication really). We addressed it with the sales manager and were very pleased with the response from that point forward. We love our new Silverado 3500 truck!
